Abstract:
The USACE Real Estate community had over the years accumulated a multitude of tools and techniques for managing and reporting real property across its various organizations causing significant business challenges in addition to driving up licensing and training costs and lowering system performance.

Pain Points:

• Data Accuracy
Incomplete or missing lease records caused by users who processed real estate tasks outside of automated systems because they lack confidence in the data provided
• Broken Workflows
Real estate processes implemented did not fit actual USACE business needs, causing malfunctioning systems and reports
• Internal Reporting
Facility management personnel in the field working from different reports & data sources than USACE Region and HQ real estate managers, with both user communities simply lacking key analytical reports
• External Reporting
Upward reporting to meet USACE requirements to the Army and other external customers were primarily being constructed on an labor intensive Ad-Hoc basis through a combination of SQL queries and spreadsheet manipulation.

Working in conjunction with the USACE headquarters and field based real estate experts, Definitive Logic in partnership with Next Tier Concepts Inc. our team conducted an enterprise architecture review of existing systems and performed capabilities-based engineering analysis of the optimal target architecture.

The core of our solution was an enterprise data warehouse application providing timely and accurate USACE Real Estate information.

For the USACE real estate community, this serves as the central repository for instant access to highly shared and widely distributed data. Our solution allows the users to focus on analysis, planning, managing, and forecasting as opposed to reporting operations.

The Real Estate community portal and dashboard that we developed is the single source for coded and ad-hoc analytical reporting. Real Estate analysts now have immediate information delivery and data integration across the organization from internal and/or external sources.
