Abstract:
Alion provides subject matter expert analysis for licensing the export of US technology assets to foreign nations and entities for the Secretary of the Air Force. The Alion technical analysts tracked technology export license requests for the Air Force using an antiquated application along with a manual process. Definitive Logic led Alion to developing and implementing a modern case management solution to manage the workflow and analytics for efficient processing of license requests. In doing so, Definitive Logic streamlined the business processes and developed a system to track users, auto-generate case related documents, index/search, OCR, and report on the data collected during the process.
Business Challenge:
The users were burdened with a cobbled together Microsoft Access program which could only handle a single simultaneous user. One analyst was being burdened with the job of managing the workflow for the entire office. There was no easy way to look up past cases or statistics for the process. Over time, the business processes began to conform to the limitations of the technology implementation. To improve the work lives of the technical analysts, Definitive Logic provided a fully analysis of the business processes and proposed a web based case management portal. The portal enabled the analysts the ability to assign, share, and research work packets related to their mission.
